Carbon Reduction Plan

Quality is our top priority at GD Construction. We understand the importance of delivering work that not only meets but exceeds expectations, and GD Construction is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions across Scope 1 and 2 by 2030, with a broader goal of Net Zero across all scopes by 2045.

To meet these objectives, we are working closely with third-party sustainability consultants to measure our emissions and have developed a robust carbon reduction plan aligned with Science-Based Targets.

Key initiatives include:

  • Retrofitting our offices by 2025 to meet Future Building Standard requirements, reducing operational emissions and creating a net-zero-ready workspace.

  • Investigating the electrification of our vehicle fleet to further minimise our carbon footprint.

These measures form part of a comprehensive strategy to achieve both near-term and long-term climate goals.
we strive to do so with every project we undertake. Our team of experts is committed to ensuring that every detail is attended to and that the final product is of the highest quality. We take pride in our work, and it shows in the final result.

We take pride in the awards and accreditations that demonstrate our dedication to sustainability. To drive continuous improvement, we have established an in-house sustainability committee responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and recommending advancements across all projects to align with our triple bottom line principles.

Recent Achievements

At GD Construction, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s a mindset. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact through practical, forward-thinking initiatives.

We're installing solar panels at our St. Albans head office, generating clean energy and lowering our carbon footprint. Our cycle-to-work scheme promotes greener commuting, while we also encourage public transport and carpooling.

We’re joining local recycling initiatives, exploring closed-loop systems to minimise waste, and upgrading sites with water-saving technologies and low-flow fixtures.

Sustainable refurbishment is a core part of our service. We recommend eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems in all projects. We're also trialling electric vehicles, aiming to transition our fleet to fully electric over time.

Internally, we’ve moved to digital payslips and communications, cutting down on paper waste. Through ongoing carbon footprint analysis, we’re identifying ways to improve across our operations.

Our environmental committee drives awareness via newsletters, toolbox talks, and yearly presentations. Every small action adds up—and at GD Construction, we believe change starts from within.

Objectives.jpg

Our Objectives

Our sustainability committee has set ambitious environmental objectives and targets, designed to establish a benchmark for exemplary performance both internally and externally. Recognising the urgency of the climate crisis, we are committed to proactive action, rather than waiting for regulatory mandates to enforce change.

We take a holistic approach to sustainability, underpinned by strong internal governance and policy frameworks. Guided by the principles of the triple bottom line, we prioritise societal and environmental outcomes alongside economic performance. In doing so, we recognise that there is no single solution to the challenges of sustainability in construction, but rather a need for coordinated, innovative, and integrated strategies.
